ACHIEVEMENT
Goal
With so many product offerings available at once, the need was to maintain and enhance the 1:many web-based learning platform, and offer an intuitive and seamless user experience. Also, with multiple product integrations, constant brand cutovers and reskinning of platforms were required to ensure that a single platform could house the entire learning ecosystem, but not feel disjointed based on the entry point.
Process
After conducting extensive user research, we collaborated with cross-functional teams to identify key areas for improvement and developed a phased plan to revamp the BYJU'S Classes platform to allow children to interact more and learn better. A platform such as this, created for interface between students and teachers requires features not only synonymous with video conference platforms, but also requires LMS integrations to pull slides and videos, learning interactivities such as questions and breakout rooms to keep students engaged, and a robust backend that allows tutors to conduct classes and grade students - no easy feat. Additionally, the product needed to be reskinned with elements from the Hello English product as well as the Tynker product, to allow for seamless classes for students who purchased the product from those funnels; this was not just a design hustle but also a tech one, requiring constant back-and-forth between various teams to enable the same. Apart from this, the Swiftbuilder tool was also built for internal use, which allowed creators to make interactive mini-applets that teachers used in the live classes to keep students engaged and drive learning forward. Through this tool, over 10,000 applets were built by almost 50 creators in a span of 6 months, making the platform a massive success. What more, the applet output it created was a big success with students in the live classes as well.
Result
The BYJU'S Classes platform is still the primary modal for online classes in our ecosystem, and has still date catered to over 150K students in a year, both in 1:many as well as 1:few formats. With the brand cutover efforts in place, the overall user experience and cohesiveness improved by a whopping 20% in active users and a 25% improvement in user satisfaction scores. The platform now effectively supports the entire learning ecosystem, driving growth and expanding the user base.
