Goal
As teams went through dramatic levels of downsizing, a lot of expectations were pinned on us to revamp existing apps, and pivot them to a pull-based model. Additionally, the revamp had to serve the purpose of merging the free and paid experiences into a single product, that could house the whole ecosystem. Other requirements included building a strong top-of-the-funnel app for the Coding offering available in North American and other geographies.
Process
Faced with significant downsizing, our small team of five embarked on a comprehensive overhaul of the existing app and the design of a new product application. We began by conducting in-depth user research to identify pain points and areas for improvement, focusing on both the free and paid user experiences. Utilizing agile methodologies, we developed detailed wireframes and prototypes, incorporating feedback from educators, students, and parents at each stage. We aimed to merge the free and paid experiences into a single cohesive product, ensuring it could support the whole ecosystem. Additionally, the paid app offering also had to cater to live classes, all of which was rigorously user tested across a span of 4 working months. Feedback loops were implemented to refine the design iteratively, ensuring a seamless and engaging user experience that made for a mind-numbingly improved experience from the user's perspective. Despite the lack of knowledge transfers (KTs), the team leveraged their expertise to efficiently navigate challenges and deliver high-quality outcomes against all odds to literally turn the product around and save a sinking ship.
Result
The reimagined learning app successfully met all objectives, resulting in a seamless integration of free and paid experiences into a single cohesive product. The top-of-the-funnel component of the app saw a substantial increase in user acquisition and engagement, significantly boosting the overall platform's reach. User satisfaction scores improved by 35%, and user engagement increased by 40%, demonstrating the effectiveness of the new design. The intuitive interface and enhanced usability significantly reduced user frustration and increased retention rates. The project showcased the team's ability to deliver high-quality results under challenging conditions, solidifying the apps' position as leading tools in the educational technology market. The revamped apps not only met but exceeded stakeholder expectations, driving overall growth and success for the platform.
